Interesting

When I’m at a function that requires several rounds of clapping, I vary the pace quite a bit. I have, unfortunately, realized that clapping at the most vigorous pace is quite inappropriate at certain junctures.

Rocket Launch at Bayboro Nov. 19th

We attended the first high power rocket launch of the year at the field in Bayboro, NC. The weather was the best I’ve ever witnessed with low wind and temperatue around 70F. Over 80 launches were completed. That’s the most I’ve seen since my time with the club.

We launched seven of our rockets with several going up two or three times. We did suffer a few damaged rockets. The very first launch of our Madcow Scooter resulted in a flame out and destruction of the rocket. Our LOC Onyx couldn’t escape my foot when I stepped backward on top of it. Lastly, our PML explorer suffered a premature ejection charge which ripped the parachute and caused a small zipper. Both the Onyx and the Explorer are easily repairable.

Out highest launch came from our PML Tiny Pterydactyl on a G64W – 2079′.

I also launched my first Metalstorm motor. It made for some nice photos.

Here are a couple of photos of the launch.

Almost finished with the next rocket

For my next rocket, I chose to do an upscale project. For this one, I’m using the famous Estes Big Bertha (my daughter’s small rocket in the picture). The upscale model weighs in at around 11 pounds and will use 54mm motors. The rocket also has an Adept22 altimeter for dual-deployment. The max altitude with the largest motor I can fit tops out around 10,000 feet. Hopefully, we will be able to launch at the first launch in Bayboro in late September. Just need to finish the paint job.
